I am an Adler fan so am probably prejudice, but I enjoy the different stories and the plots she continues to create with each new publication. Invitation is no exception. There are numerous characters to sort through, but each has a story to be told, and it held my interest to the end. The story line is becoming somewhat familiar with a rich lady in her late years pulling the loose ends together before she passes, but if a book needs a cog to hold the spokes to the wheel, a rich old lady seems fitting. Besides, it works. I will look for the next "rich, old lady" however she may be depicted in the next Adler book I read. The trip is always interesting.

Great read. Adler knows how to paint the seen. Beautifully done. Good story.
Noce easy reading. Very relaxing.
The first book I read by Elizabeth Alder and I was hooked.
I felt the story raced to the finish and I never really understood the motivation behind many of the character. Their actions were random. Felt like there was another book I should have read first
Trite silly book. All the women beautiful, all the men attractive. Contrived drama. It was a waste of precious time.
I don't understand the negative reviews, this was the perfect summer beach book. The setting and the descriptions as always are what make Elizabeth Adler one of my favorite authors to read when I want to escape from the daily life chores that one has to do. This book is a mini vacation and I loved the plot with Franny Marten and all the people she meets. Yes, this book is very formulatic but that is what we come to expect from E.A. and that's what we want, we want everything to be perfect and rosy and a happy ending in a beautiful setting with a wealthy, good looking, and perfect man. I've read all the E.A. books except for 3 and the new one coming out in July, can't wait!!! Buy her books if you want to escape to Europe with descriptions of food and clothing and homes, countryside, and it creates the perfect vacation atmosphere and take this book with you to the beach or the patio and enjoy. Don't listen to the negative reviews, this was her best one yet.
